Marcella Gruchalak, a Pittsburgh native and model, reflects on a modest upbringing, embracing life lessons. From a Craigslist ad, she ventured into modeling, valuing networking opportunities. Beyond modeling, she finds purpose in motivating others. An accomplished mounted shooter, Marcella emphasizes internal support. Marcella Gruchalak’s Exclusive Interview
Where are you from, and how would you describe your life growing up?
I’m from Pittsburgh, PA.Growing up I lived in a single father home. We didn’t have much but, that taught me some of my most valuable life lessons such as not taking things for granted and utilizing the resources I had to be successful.
How did you find your way in front of a camera, modeling?
This is totally dating me but, I responded to a craigslist ad just to try something new.
What do you like best about being a model?
I love the networking aspect. Meeting new photographers and models and learning different tips and tricks to better myself as a model.
Besides modeling what is the most important thing in your life? Do you have any unusual talents?
One of the most important things in my life is motivating and inspiring others. I understand this life is tough so I like to spread positivity when I can.
This isn’t an unusual talent to me because it’s become a normal occurrence, but, I compete in mounted shooting which is where you ride your horse at fast speeds through patterns and shoot .45 long colt, single-action revolvers at balloons.
We all need support in life. Where do you get your support? What or who inspires you?
For a large portion of my life, I looked to others for validation and support. There were moments I felt that I didn’t have anyone to look to. It was in those moments I realized that my biggest support and inspiration came from within. It’s something I can create within myself.
What do you think is the most challenging thing about modeling and what advice would you give to new models?
The most challenging things about modeling are meeting quality people in the industry and not getting discouraged when someone doesn’t want to work with you because you don’t meet their “type.”
Be clear about your expectations and standards for your shoots. Reach out to mutual friends on social media before working with someone new. Don’t get discouraged.
What is your favorite way to relax? What do you do for fun?
My favorite way to relax is by horseback riding. I have three horses that I enjoy riding.
I also like to travel and see new places.
You look amazing. What do you recommend for those wanting to keep in shape?
Try to pick activities that work more than one muscle group at a time. I like to rock climb and do pole fitness.
What would you consider your strongest attribute? What do guys compliment you most on?
I’d have to say my smile. It’s genuine and makes me more approachable.
Please share something about yourself that may surprise others. What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?
I don’t dye my hair. I own a stick shift car and a street bike.
What are your dreams and goals and ambitions?
I have plenty of goals. A few of them are I’d like to publish a book, autocross my car, collaborate with more awesome companies, and become a better horseback rider and rock climber.
If you were in a magical machine that could transport you to any place and time imaginable, where would you love to be? Why?
I’d like to go back to when my grandpa and grandma were in their prime. Seeing pictures of them, they looked like beautiful people and I’d really like to get to know them at that age.
Are you a naughty girl, or a nice girl 😉 ?
I’m a good balance of both.
Please share a guilty pleasure with us. Your naughtiest fantasy?
My biggest guilty pleasure is probably the yellow can of Red Bull and a sub from Subway. It’s probably more of an addiction at this point.
I don’t think this you would be able to publish my naughtiest fantasies.
What’s one thing about yourself that everyone should know?
I’m a registered nurse with a master’s degree and I’m almost finished with my second master’s degree in business.
Do you have any favorite quotes that you would like to share?
As someone who writes motivational and inspiring content, some of my favorite quotes are my own. One is:
